GETTING STARTED
In the SiteSync layout, it is important to note the names of the multiple windows. The image to the right is a description of each:
Map
,
Info
,
Legends
,
Slider
and
Query
frames, also called windows.
MAPPING INTERFACE
Our mapping interface has been found to make people very efficient at their jobs. Moving around in our Map window is done without the need to click on the functions. We no longer have icons for ( + ), ( - ), PAN, etc, as buttons, we now have them integrated into both mouse and keyboard interactions.
UTILS
Printing, Upgrades, Telecom Calculator, Preferences and other beta options show up in this link. To get there, click on the
"Utils"
link below the map on the right side. For printing out screens, data, and customized reports, users
will find an interactive print menu with capabilities of adding text, re-stretching ranges, and even a PDF maker built in.
"Sync"
is a great way to allow multiple users to "Sync" the mapping to each other, no matter where they are logged in from. Sending a "Send-Sync" to another user with access rights alerts that user to a "Sync" being received; after that user accepts the message, their SiteSync refreshes to that same view. Be sure to use the
"Feedback"
area if questions or problems arise, or you just need to make a comment about the tool.
"Calc"
is not your average calculator; it has been designed for the Telecom industry and has conversion tools for coordinates, power levels and distances. For a quick
tutorial
on use of the interface, click the little white Mouse on the bottom right of the Map window.
ZOOM FOOM
Our newest map feature is our "Zoom Foom" tool, which is the little yellow double arrow slider at the bottom of the Map window. This handy tool allows for instant map zoom levels at any time.
Left Click HOLD & DRAG
this arrow left or right; the Zoom Scale box will show the new distance across as you move the yellow double-arrow, and zoom when you release the left mouse button. Another way to zoom is by clicking the gray Zoom Scale box. It opens a longer box, showing the distance across the screen. Enter a new whole number and hit ENTER to set the map to that new zoom level.
MAP TOOL BUTTONS
Depending on your access level, there can be a total of four Map Tool Buttons available in your version of SiteSync, which can be found on the left frame of the Map window. They are:
A
(Areas)
C
(Custom Layers)
L
(Layer Control)
M
(Marketed Coverage)
The first Map Tool Button labeled
"A"
is included in all access levels, used for quickly getting to your favorite locations; we call this the "Area" feature. Clicking the button once pulls out the 6 available user-defined zoom areas, where it will stay until closed. There are 6 defaults preloaded to gain a sense of the use, and by using symbols, we figure there will be another level of memory as to what the user has programmed to the icons. The last icon is for the US and simply zooms to that view, it is not re-programmable. For programming one of the 6 symbols, first zoom to the area you wish to have defined (i.e., a city, region, build area, etc.), then click the "Prog" word on the bottom of the column of symbols. You will see the menu like the picture to the left pop up. Type in your new name for this area (keep your mouse cursor over the dialog or it will lose focus). If you need to abort, hit the "Cancel" link that is now on the bottom of the column of icons. After your have your new name, use your mouse to click on the icon of choice to assign it. It will now be assigned to that symbol, and the next time you log in or need to go back to that same area, click your favorite one.
The next Map Tool Button, labeled
"C"
, is for your Custom or Corporate Layers. This could contain data from WAC or your company sites, wireline, DSL, WiFi, boundaries, point databases or other locations for easy reference in the tool. Once pulled out, if you have layers, you can view them (at their governed zoom levels) by checking the "Display" box next to the layer of choice, then the "Go" button at the bottom. Going into "Edit" allows for turning on the labels of those dots, boundaries, lines and various other attributes. If the layer is considered a "Corporate" layer it means all users can see it and/or have access to it. Custom layers can also be assigned for specific users, allowing only approved users in your company to view.
L
is your Power Layers. Checking any of these, forces that layer to be displayed through out the tool (at its governed zoom levels), no matter which Gray Bar Menu feature the user is in (see Gray Bar Menu Buttons in Map Interface and Functionality).
For our
power users
, we have made easy access to
Marketed Coverage
with the
"M"
feature. Working with our partner, American Roamer, users have the ability to layer existing Marketed Coverage of PCS and Cellular carriers of the USA. This data also shows up in our Prospectus report and as coverage patterns found in a certain area the user inputs. Layer this data set or query in with carrier distributorships you currently use for direct sales or support. Seats, or licenses, are a yearly fee with data being updated quarterly.
